How do we use our

InnerG?

How do we use our InnerG?

Faith

It takes faith to take risks on the behalf of people you don’t even know in hopes that some day they will live in a better reality. It takes faith to pray for peace in devastating situations. It takes faith to forgive yourself and others for the sake of growth and healing. But it is the InnerG of the Holy Spirit that gives us the strength to do this. In Beta Nu Theta, our faith gives us assurance in not letting the laws of man and the norms of our society dictate how we chose to love one another.

Activism

To be both selfish and selfless is one of the most radical mindsets you can have. It is the mindset of Martin Luther King who knew he was worth enough to demand his rights as a black man and yet willing to give it all up to ensure that same dream for his people. Jesus Had this same mindset- seeing the pricelessness of EVERY person despite what the church, the government, and society had to say about the worth of different human lives. We will follow his example by speaking up and out for those who’s voices are constantly ignored or invalidated in our society.

Service

Jesus came to save the lost, the lonely, the weary, and the afflicted. It is by acknowledging that we too are in one of these categories that God can begin to work through us and help us to remain full while living a life abundant of grateful service. True service is selfless and requires sacrifice- whether that be time, energy, relationships, reputation, comfort, etc. It is our hope that as people serve each other and themselves within our org, they will feel the support of our community when it comes to taking on overwhelming tasks like fighting for those who have been overlooked in our society.

My name's Ladarius Davis and I'm a former non-profit leader, entrepreneur, and a current member of Student Life & Leadership. I joined Beta Nu Theta to continue promoting mental and physical health to students and overlooked populations with hopes that BNT will be a chance to support UNC men and women of color with my administrative network.

My name is Kasie and I'm a senior in the nursing program at UNC! I decided to join Beta Nu Theta because I thought it would be great to be a part of the first black, co-ed fraternity on UNC's campus! This is a space where I was able to take part in a service oriented group that could empower and uplift people from all walks of life, while promoting mental health and spreading love   . In this group I'm excited to contribute by integrating my healthcare background into service events and initiating a mentoring program for black and Latinx high school students in the area.

I'm Sydney and I'm a junior from Aldie, Virginia (right outside D.C.). I'm on the UNC Dance Team and I'm involved with Carolina for the Kids. I've joined Beta Nu Theta this year because I want to be even more involved with activism both within the community and on a larger scale. It is important to raise awareness about issues that many try to sweep under the rug or ignore. I believe that if you're not saying something, you're helping to reinforce the problem. One issue I'm really passionate about is sexual harassment in the workplace. I cannot wait to meet our new members!
